Suspicious Anatomy

Do you remember how his face looked?
Like pale clay with bags of grey sand
haphazardly piled the way you'd see in WWII
Laying on his back staring at the ceiling
Counting those little popcorn.

I wanted to know what elation is
And I thought a face like that is a place to start
But hell if I ever want to own a face so grim
What if there was a moment of happiness
a slow warmth that built around his cheekbones
down his sallow jowls to his hard jawline
and there was movement in the sand
life inside of a moment where
maybe its an animal and the sandbags
Maybe they aren't changing colors
Maybe they aren't starting to fly
Maybe the moments were hot air
Those sandbags are Hot Air  Balloons

Turns out the first ones to fly to the moon

But we wont hear about that
Not till people forget the news
never happened at least three more times
 like an atomic test site where there is cold air
 blowing up from the center of the earth
 How many times did someone say 
we are living on a sphere
 before they redrew the map 
and told the turtles go home? 
How many people have forgotten 
that the earth is Hollow. 
Maybe it has something to do
with cold things being denser at the core
Why would the planet be 
built like a soft M&M?
Who would want to live there?
I really want to call this what it is 


Like some sort of Agharta
But that makes me feel
like I could end up with that face... 
The grey one where Bill Murray 
is laying on the bed in Moonlight Kingdom. 
But the thing that scares me 
is where your mind will go. 
What if she brings up Miles Davis 
Which album was recorded first
realizes your love of music
gets jealous of Etta James 
and runs for the ocean 
Or what if she brings up Agartha
under(standing) Tibet, starts talking
about cave systems in the Himalayas
how they are shaped like the root systems of trees?
What if she makes me have that dream
where I realize that the synapses in our brains
 are shaped just like those tangles of root 
Where I realize I have to tell her
it is all connected somehow
Is that how people get that face?
I will take anything but that grey face
